Keeping cool while pregnant

Keeping cool while pregnant

With the temperatures rising here are a few tips to help you keep cool during pregnancy.

  1. If you can handle the thought of exercise, consider exercising in water. Aqua-natal classes can be a great way of gentle exercising as well as meeting other mums-to-be.
  2. Choose clothes with natural fibres such as linen and cotton.
  3. For an instant cool down put your wrists under cold running water.
  4. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
  5. Invest in a hand-held battery operated fan or go old school with a proper fan!
  6. If at home, close the blinds or curtains to keep the house cool.
  7. If possible, take a siesta during the hottest part of the day (a good habit for those on maternity leave, waiting for baby) For those of you who have recently done a course with me, use this time to listen to one of your birth preparation tracks.
